Macadamia Skills Academy (MSA) was established in 2015 as an extension of the Macadamia nuts project as part of creating sustainable industrial transformation driven by the transfer of skills and continuous up skilling of all stakeholders involved in the Macadamia industry. MSA drives these initiatives in partnership with the community of Ncera and Amajingqi who owns 51% of the company and is represented through the trusts Vulithuba Investment Trust and Amajingqi Investment Trust.
MSA act as the facilitator to ensure education, training and skills development activities are delivered which will address the needs of the Macadamia industry and other spin off industries that will be generated as a result of a booming macadamia industry.
MSA will work with education and training partners who have have existing experience related to programme qualification and are approved/accredited by the relevant SETAs, who will bring their expertise and capacity to the training centre in line with the demand in the area.
VISION
To be a training centre of excellence specializing in the fields of sustainable agriculture and tourism and other business management programmes with particular emphasis to the Macadamia Industry and agri-tourism promotion for targeted macadamia nut producing communities in the Eastern Cape and the Country at large.
MISSION
- To promote sustainable agricultural and tourism management through delivery of quality education and training in partnership with Sector Education Training Authorities (SETAs) and other relevant stakeholders.
- To support tourism and agribusiness entrepreneurs and practitioners in related fields develop viable businesses that drive economic transformation as a catalyst for agritourism in the coastal of the Eastern Cape.
- To grow a tourism economy in the region through support of viable and bankable tourism businesses.
- To use Macadamia nut project as a niche Tourism initiative to kick start agri-tourism.
- To provide recognized qualifications in accordance with the National Qualifications Framework.
- To provide high standards of training that meet the country’s skills development goals, the requirements of the regulatory bodies such as the Department of Higher Education and Training, the SETAs as well as the ever-changing needs of business and commerce.
